FWD Progress: That Time Again

Site

PlayStation Move ControllerAs the Summer winds down the release list starts to heat back up, though I didn’t find the traditional video game drought season that bad at all this year. There were a number of high-quality releases, both on the retail and the downloadable sides of things to keep us busy and keep our review backlog growing.

Recently I’ve been playing Mafia II on the Xbox 360 and am very impressed with the game world that the team at 2K Czech created. Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days is certainly stylistic, but its ultra short campaign and stale, uninspired gameplay left me with a bad taste in my mouth. More...

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Journal

Toronto Blue Jays LogoBrian and I are getting ready to go for our long-awaited baseball trip. We are both looking forward to seeing two games between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays, hopefully catch a home run, eat some hot dogs and yell at a few players. Taking the train to Toronto and back, we’ll have plenty of time to fill and plan on playing a while.

I will be starting into Zen Bound 2 on the iPod Touch. The first game was very cool and I had been looking for a basic puzzle game - something without a story or characters that can be picked up for brief interludes. I plan on reviewing it when we return. More...

FWD Progress: Midsummer Check-In

Site

DeathSpank Cover ArtI’m surprised it’s been so long since my last update, at one point I was writing one of these every day. I guess we’ve settled into a groove and there just isn’t a heck of a lot to report these days. I’m trying to write some game reviews, Nathalie is always on the lookout for news round-up materials and we’re always scouting for new feature articles.

I still plan to rebuild the site from scratch and introduce some community features, but frankly it’s hard to take Game Forward offline when we’re starting to see consistent month-to month traffic increases and more visitors than ever clicking on our ads and bookmarking our site. More...

Not Quite a Review: Crackdown 2

Video Games

Crackdown 2 LogoAfter about four hours of Crackdown 2 I can safely say that I like it, mainly because I loved the original title and this expansion pack-cum-sequel is essentially more of the same.  A few tweaks and additions were made, most notably four-player online co-op, however even as a fan of the franchise I can admit that Crackdown 2 isn’t nearly as impressive as it’s predecessor and it falls flat in a lot of ways.

Crackdown 2 is set ten years after the events of the first game in which agents rid the city of three large gangs . For some unexplained reason, Pacific City has again gone to hell, a virus is turning citizens into zombie-like “freaks” and a single gang organisation called The Cell is terrorizing the city. Feeling the Heat

Journal

The Weather Network Says it is Hot OutsideWhile I know to expect a flare up of joint pain and increased frequency and intensity of muscle spasms every year when the weather turns cool, I always seem to forget how hard Summer is on me until it hits me like a ton of bricks.

The onset of the hot and humid weather here in Eastern Ontario brings with it swollen joints and trouble breathing from environmental allergies. I’m not going to lie; the joint pain I feel today is enough to make me cry and something that even my beloved extra strength Motrin can‘t handle.

I know others have it worse and I certainly don’t want to complain, but I find writing it down helps me deal with the worst part of my pain; feeling more “disabled” and unproductive than my relatively mild Palsy could ever make me feel. More...
