Rock Vibe Project Seeks Support in New Fundraising Campaign

Rock Vibe LogoRock Vibe, an accessible music game designed for both blind and sighted players, is looking for donations in a second round of fundraising on the crowdsourcing website Kickstarter. In addition to allowing its full development, the fundraising campaign aims to provide free copies of the game to organizations working with blind children.

Created by Rupinder Dhillon, Rock Vibe will allow visually impaired and sighted gamers to play together. "Currently, games developed for blind gamers don't create the environment for this," said Dhillon. "Oftentimes, they're too simplistic for sighted gamers." Read More...

A Puzzle from PushmoIt has been over a month since we posted an article at Game Forward, but we are not dead. Things have been hectic around here as we prepare for the arrival of our daughter and we simply haven't had very much time to check out new games and software, research story ideas or write.

We're getting close to being done with the prep work and have a month or so before the baby arrives, so I'm turning my attention back to my neglected baby, who incidentally turned four years old a couple weeks ago while I have the chance and hope to make the most of the time by writing some one-off news pieces, finishing off old projects and features and if I'm really lucky, rebuilding the site one more time. While eye patches were long believed to be the only, if imperfect, solution to this problem, new studies have reinforced the notion that having patients play video games could result even greater outcomes.

Amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, is a neurological disorder where the vision in one eye does not develop properly. It is a major cause of permanent visual impairment in childhood and affects nearly three percent of children, according to the National Eye Institute. It is also the most common cause of one-eye visual impairment among young and middle-aged adults. Read More...
